We will begin our SRC blog by writing about our Spring Carnival. It was a great success and the theme was George goes to Hollywood! The students competed in many events, such as an ice cream eating contest, an obstacle course to be done completely in high heels, a dodgeball tournament, a tug-o-war competition, a door decorating contest, and so on. For a final assembly we held the first annual George goes to the Oscars! There were two Oscars being presented, one for the best Billboard Door in our door decorating contest, and the other was for the Best Motion Picture Oscar; in other words, the winning class. 7H took home the Oscar for the best Billboard Door, but in the end it was 7B that took home the Best Motion Picture Oscar. For all of their hard work, 7B was rewarded a pizza party!
Now on to our latest fundraiser, the George Street Middle School Going Green bags! These are gold and purple bags (our school colours), with a tree on them. On top of the tree it reads "GOING GREEN" to represent that we as a school have come together to do our part for the environment. They are made of partly recycled material, and may be purchased for $3.00 a bag.
